Guys this is going to be my first long story. It would be in chapterwise format. I have written the first chapter and would soon write the next chapters. Till I Lose You The To Be Eleventh Letter The sun was shining a bit brighter today. The grass was a bit greener. I was more excited and anxious today than I usually am and I think it was my excitement that has transcended to the nature. The love in my heart has finally found a way out into the nature, scaled itself multiple times and have came back to me, only and only me. Today I would receive her reply. No matter what it would be, I don’t know whether she would have said yes or no, but I really hope she would have said yes, I really really hope so. I think this is what happens with people when they are in love, their first love,my first love. The thoughts I had, have, they are all incoherent, none of this makes any sense, yet it is the most sensible thing in the whole worl...
As a kid, I always wondered what patriotism really is,how a modern Indian patriot looks like, I mean whenever we talk about patriotism, the faces the comes in our minds are of Bhagat Singh, Azad and Gandhi but what about the contemporary times.
Maybe I wasn't old enough to realize that modern Indian patriotism comes in many different brands like everything else in the market and the most famous brand is "biannual" patriotism that is a 24 hour event at a time starting at the midnight of 26 Jan and 14 August and vanishing as soon as the clock struck 12 the next day.Now this is followed by another famous brand "outburst" patriotism, that comes in demand only either when a movie like URI or PARMANU is realsed or when someone says bad things about our motherland. The least popular one is "consistent" or "permanent" patriotism sported only by 0.001% of Indian population which includes Armymen, Naval and Air force officers.
Now all these things boils down to one single question, what makes a person truly patriotic, is it hosting National Flag on these "holidays" or sharing WhatsApp and Insta stories with catchy captions. I am not taking any sides over this but I know, the bundles of flag(which represent our nation) is found on roads the very next day and no one gives a shit about these stories or caption after that. So is that it, our duty of patriotism is fulfilled it ends here. This is where we differ from most of the developed countries, any average person in these countries carry the love for his nation day in and day out and it is reflected in their day to day actions and on the other hands what we Indians do, we litter on the roads, we bribe officers, jump red lights, tolerate every kind of nonsense, we don't raise our voice against anything wrong, is this really the way we plan to make our nation great.
You know the difference between the 99.999% of Indian population having "outburst" or "biannual" patriotism and the rest having "permanent" patriotism is the way they think, a very popular phrase that Indian army uses is "One among a million and one in a million" and the problem with common India man/woman is that they consider themselves one among a billion but not one in a billion, this is where the whole problem lies, we either think we are too busy to do anything that can change our nation or they think how much impact a single person can make to change a whole nation and they are partially correct also, the way our lifestyle is it makes it even more difficult for us to act in a manner that would be truly appreciated, as most of the people live their lives in a manner that makes it difficult for them to even survive and the question of survival is greater than patriotism is grassroot level but we can learn to incorporate patriotism in our daily lives.
All we have to do is to believe that we change this Nation, our small deeds does makes a big difference, one day every person would realize his responsibilities and that is when, when our "INDIA" would be truly great and we would be patriots in real sense but always remember the answer lies in the question itself.
